Welcome to the first issue of the Tablet Habit Weekly Roundup! Every Thursday at 8am Eastern I will share with you a handful of things I think are great additions to conversations involving the iPad, iOS, Apple, and Silicon Valley.
If you have some article, story, blog, or video you want to share with me I am always available at contact[at]tablethabit[dot]com or on Twitter @iamJeffPerry.
Hey email subscribers, one thing you can do that others can’t is simply reply to this email. Let me know what things you have seen and liked lately, I am always up for consuming new blogs, YouTube channels, or what my readers are up to!
A Quick link from The Verge by Jon Porter to follow up my story about why I am done with Clubhouse. Turns out Clubhouse had another incident with private information where someone was able to share several streams of audio on a third-party website.
Things I liked
Some magnificent reporting from Daniel Bader at iMore about educators and how the iPad can integrate with education. My wife is a teacher, and I am a sucker for when I can share something with her that interests both of us.
Christopher Lawley shares his setup and tips all about the new native notes app Craft. This was something that I was waiting on the edge of my seat for. I wanted to improve my setup and usage of the new notes app and I knew that Christopher was the best person for the job.
Sam Byford from The Verge shares more info and history behind the firmware update and why the Brydge Pro+ was a great idea but came at the worst possible time.
Another Christopher Lawley video where he shares some really neat tools and setups to make your desk more ergonomic and useful for you and your iPad.
A quick little Apple Support page about how iPads made in 2020 will automatically shut off the mic when you close an Apple supported case.
When an MFi-compliant case (including those sold by Apple) is attached to the iPad and closed, the microphone is disconnected in hardware, preventing microphone audio data being made available to any software—even with root or kernel privileges in iPadOS, or any device firmware.
Ben Lovejoy from 9to5Mac talks about the most recent news about Apple moving iPad production to India.
I don’t normally follow news like this, but I think that this India move is going to be something we see more news about in the coming months. I hope that it will allow Apple to increase production, but in truth I worry this will lower the amount of iPads made in the next year or two.
Another quick reminder for those that made it this far, you can send me your comments, articles, videos, links, and more at contact[at]tablethabit[dot]com or over on Twitter @iamJeffPerry.
